Technically, the plastics that melt are thermoplastic, meaning they
become more plastic with heat.
Bakelite and similar are classified as thermosetting plastics, because
they are heated to set the plastic. As Jm said, they will burn, rather
than melting when heated. Fiberglass resins fall into the thermosetting
category also.

Try a red-hot paperclip end on the back side. If it melts it a bit, you just
need more heat. If
it burns, it was 'set', like bakelite, and will never melt/bend. But, given
that it's deformed, my
guess is that it is not set, and can be shifted.
