My first motorcycle was a '62 R69S. Great bike - the hotrod BMW of the
time, 600cc and 42HP. Easily did over 100 mph. I ran over a board that was
diagonal in the road at night going about 65mph - it looked like a 4x4 in
the short time I could see it, but was probably a 2x4. I thought I would
wreck, but barely felt it. The Earl front suspension let keep the bike
level in hard braking - the front brakes lift the front suspension, and the
rear ones press down on the front - easy to balance.
I sold it to my brother, who took it to Germany (via the Army), where he
sold it before returning for a nice profit.
