A zodiac is so, normal. And it is displacement vessel so debris
in the water is a problem.

Maybe consider a jet motor. In the MO ozarks almost all river
boats use jet. No prop to strike so much more dependable in
shallow, or "junky" water. There are small outboard versions that
could mount on a jon boat or a zodiac.

Or - go large and get a hovercraft suiitable for some real work.
Land, water, ice, snow, road. They don't handle hills very well,
and they sure don't care if there are big logs in the water.
