You won't find a Win Activation Code sticker on the bottom.
And you can't use a program to get it off the computer.
Win10 uses a digital ID that is stored on MS's servers.
Download the Win10 iso create a dvd or stick. Wipe the drive during
instillation. When asked for a product key chose I Don't Have One option.
After installing do all the updates. By this time 10 will talk to the
servers
and activate with the digital license.
You can use Ultimate CD to get the version of Win 10 that's installed.
10 will ask what version you want during the install process.
Any questions feel free to email me and I'll answer.

If you don't want to preserve anything on the machine, just
reinstall. That's probably best anyway if you don't know the history of
the machine.
You can create installation media from the Microsoft website,
boot from that, and reinstall Windows. The Windows activation code
sticker on the laptop should work to activate it.

What OS is it running? That will determine how to unlock it.

A friend gave me a new, locked Toshiba laptop for which he doesn't have a
password.
I seem to remember that such computers make good boat anchors but aren't much
good for anything else.
I have several old programs for wiping hard drives, and several laptop hard
drives that might fit the Toshiba, but I've forgotten what to try first.
My friend would like me to save several items on the computer if I manage to
get into it, but it's okay if I can't save them.
All suggestions appreciated.
TIA,
Gerry
