I remember that evening well! I was working as a ramp rat at JFKIA, loading food into SAS and Eastern galleys. We feasted on SAS marzipan moon landing replica cake that night.

And to those who applied and were not accepted; And to all the guys in white shirts and skinny black ties with slipsticks, and to all the grunts on the ground who put all the pieces together so they would work. And here's to Chuck Yeager who started it all. I heard a replay of an interview with Chuck Yeager. He did not apply for the Astronaut selection because it required a kolledge degree. Chuck had a HS diploma, but not a kolledge degree. What a loss. Chuck would have made a great astronaut. As a kid, I remember being surprised that Chuck was not there when they announced the first 7. I never knew why. Now I know, it was stupidity on the part of those who set the criteria. Chuck, and Bob Hoover and Paul Poberezny would be the guys I looked up to most as I grew up. _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
