The current President of Boeing is from GE, worked for Jack Welch and Jeff Immelt. Should tell you
all you need to know about the current problems as those two totally trashed GE using the
"good enough" philosophy of letting the customer fix all the things wrong with your
products and squeezing out every penny on maintenance and research. The goal seems to have been to
make the largest manufacturing company in the world into an "asset free" business.....
Shortcuts in manufacturing always lead to horrible problems with products, and combined
with the assumption that "computers are smarter than people" attitude I can't
stand, you get airplanes that fly themselves into the ground.
Airbus has the same issues with computers, we no longer have pilots in control
most of the time. That's fine as long as the programmer put everything in, but
once you get outside the program parameters, you have to THINK to solve the
problem and computers will never think.
