AFAIK the oxy absorbent packets contain iron filings. I don't see how they 
would absorb ethylene.

Etylene ripening is well known.

CA storage takes the oxygen out of the cold storage to retard 
senescence.   CA fruit has to be sold/used right away when the CA 
storage is opened.  That is how you can get awful cardboard washington 
apples in any grocery any time of the year.

In theory, an oxygen absorber packet in a sealed bag could create a "CA 
storage" device.
