. The subframe started slamming against the body on the way home from violin lessons, so the grand subframe exchange is upon us. I have several parts to exchange including the frame itself, so it doesnt make sense to put new bushings in the old frame.
I got the sls detached and depressurized and the driveline unhooked and the exhaust and brake calipers off today. This is a diesel, and it seems like the fuel lines may not run through the subframe, which is cool. So now I am trying to disconnect the abs connector under the rear seat. Do I have to pull the whole rear seat out to remove the carpet under the seat bottom? Seems like it needs to come out. No way to get to the grommet without lifting the carpet, and carpet will not come out without removing the rear wheel well panels and the seatbelts at least! There must be a good write up on rear seat removal somewhere. All I seem to find is the sedan version. After that it's only disconnecting the e-brake cable, and it should all drop down onto a dolly. I have a 500e subframe with a wavetrac 210mm diff and rebuilt v8 halfshafts and a bigger swaybar and new sportline sls struts and springs waiting to drop into it. I am going back to stock ride height, even though a guy in a Subaru wrx sti was giving it a serious look over and a big thumbs up in traffic today. Guess I should wash it more often; it really looks pretty amazing with new headlights and clean 15 x 8 or whatever 15 hole wheels. Sorry I missed the chowdaq. I'm sure it will be better than the place we are headed tonight; it's called avra and people think it's great but there is nothing like a fresh fried clam. Parents are on the Oregon coast tonight. We dug some nice clams last time we went up there. Uncle John and aunt Jenny's 50th anniversary celebration. Take it easy, but take it!
