Was/Is Kenmore still part of Sears or did it get spun off?

Snears was in a downward spiral 50 years ago. The gravity pulled it
down faster the lower it went. no tears. It was self inflicted.
Crapsman hand tools were the last bastion of kwality at snears, until
maybe 20 years ago.
