Our 2006 Sprinter had a towing capacity of 5000LBS. The boat in tow was our personal boat, a Tracker Party Deck 21 I/O which was near the 5000LB towing capacity. The dragon boats were between 600 and 900LBs each, and with 4 on the club trailer, the Ram 2500 Cummins was definitely up to the task until they bought a Ram 2500 V10 of their own. It was cheaper than a Cummins, but I would bet that their fuel costs has far surpassed the savings by now. We are considering a newer Sprinter for our family/dog hauling van. Now, it will have stand-up paddle boards (SUPs) on the roof or on a trailer which would be well under 1000LBS.
