Dangerous game is not a game. There's a reason the African hunters of yore always had a backup gun along, in the hands of a backup gunner. If it were me, I would have that _and_ a very hefty short-ish revolver, and damn the laws. Make the primary weapon legal, and then do what you have to to ensure your life. Maybe a nice Bowie on the other hip? Or a bayonet on the rifle? A pig spear is probably a bit impractical.
