Spot on as far as Panama and diversity. If you don’t understand or know the history it will mess with your mind. Why? Go into a very authentic Chinese restaurant in Panama City and the employees all speak very fluent Spanish. “What is wrong with this picture?” your brain will say.
With alcohol being banned by many of the indigenous towns there’s a thriving business in smuggling. I once saw a bottle of Jack Daniels black change hands for over $100, and this was 20 years ago. They got to great lengths to stop the trafficking but the stuff still gets through. Much like the Indian reservations of the lower 48, drug and alcohol addiction are rampant.
