It wasn’t just me. Someone else mentioned you should power up and wait, too…

I think the timer just piles on every time an attempt is made and fails. I seem 
to recall working on a spare radio I had a while back and fat fingering the 
code 3-4 times and it taking it the better part of a day to time out. Glad it’s 
working now.
