I have one on the pole up by the road where the underground line runs up to a pole transformer then the lines run to the house. It’s a fuse Tree branches are always hitting the lines and shorting out the fuse which blows and sounds like a really loud gunshot. The guys show up and replace it usually pretty quickly.
It helps that I let this kid who works for the power company hunt on the vast estate. If I need something I shoot him a text and he usually gets on it pretty quickly. Last fall before the hurricane we had some wind and rain before it and the wires got tangled up from a tree branch hitting them. He and his crew were sitting about a mile up the road when I texted him, two trucks showed up in about 3 minutes and 20 minutes later I had power back.
