Honda Element transmission went out and left me on the side of the road tonight.
I had thought it was a shift solenoid issue, replaced it about a month ago and it seemed better. But in the heat today it just would not engage gears. Was OK when cold but as it warmed up it got worse and worse and finally would not engage at all. Fluid level OK. I kind of want to keep the car since it's otherwise pretty solid and I will have a son in college who could take it this winter. Figure a transmisison job will be less than buying anything else reliable for the same money. Anyone familiar with Jasper transmissions? A glance at their website seems to indicate they only sell through installers. Are they generally good? DIY rebuild feasible? Never done that.
