Trampas wondered:
" How much trouble is it [starter] to change at home verses changing at a
gas station,
or worse when your wife is driving it?"
There are many, many things that are easy enough to "change at a gas
station" or do in the breakdown lane of the freeway to keep from having to
pay for a tow...but I feel replacing a starter is right up there at the top
of the do-it-at-home list of repairs. There is a lot of reaching/getting
underneath the car involved and the allen head bolts that hold the pig on
are, at least, always contrary.
If it's starting to give you trouble and you have a good one to replace it
with, do it.
