We inherited a 1983 240d earlier this year that had been sitting in a
relatives driveway the last several years. First time owning a Mercedes
or diesel so we took it to a local mechanic to get it running. He
replaced ignition (broken key), filters, belts, new motor mounts, vacuum
system and throttle parts, new battery, replaced bad relay, some hoses,
fuel lines, etc and got it running and road worthy. He suggested several
other things but said to drive it around a while and get it used to
running before spending any additional $ on it. It is currently
registered, tagged, and insured in my name. Georgia does not require
title on old cars so it is a bill of sale car. We’ve only put about 50
miles on it and it’s just not for us. It runs and drives but still needs
work. Brakes, exhaust leak, leaky sunroof, throttle adjustment, and a
considerable amount of interior aesthetic work like new headliner, dash
trim, etc. there is no rust on the body, engine compartment, or trunk.
The driver side floor pan has rust in the lower channel probably from
the sunroof leak. I am not mechanicallyinclined and would like to see it
go to a good home. Asking $1600 which is basically what I have in it. In
Atlanta, GA.
