One of the main things I like about the classic (123/124/126 pre 90s) models is they avoided unnecessary complication. For example, the passenger-side mirror was electric but not the driver side because you can reach to adjust it manually. They are maintainable and also indefinitely repairable (if parts available) unless they rust out.
