I could never do that. On the way over I typically had to be functional and ready to work the next day. My flights usually put me in late in the day, so I would grab a light meal and try to sleep after staying awake on the plane all the way over. Our Medical Department issued sleeping pills (prescription strength stuff) and in the case of my return flights I usually had a good meal after takeoff, took a sleeping pill, and woke up in time for breakfast and landing shortly after.
