I've seen that. I might have a can in the garage, I'll have to check it out

I have found the best stuff for spot cleaning is a spray foam at Wally Whirled
call “Tuff Stuff”. It’s cheap and does a great job of removing stains by
spraying and using a stiff brush to work it into the carpet fibers.
Interesting that I can buy it off the shelf at the store yet the web site only
shows it as being available from third party sellers.

I was thinking too that using a spray bottle with some cleaner and working it
with a brush would probably do well for the cleaning, then using the big shop
vac for the sucking would dry it out better than this little thing I have.
I've done that on spots. The spray bottle might not like boiling water though,
but maybe use one of the pump sprayers for weed killer or pesticides.

The rental thing wouldn’t be any better, IMHO. If your existing carpet cleaner
has an upholstery setup (vacuum hose with sprayer) it’s just as effective.
I’ve got a little one for doing cars and one thing I’ve found to be helpful is
to use near boiling water in it.

I have an ancient (30+yo) carpet/upholstery cleaning vac thing from Sears,
works more or less but lacks some serious cleaning power, mostly the vacuum
aspect but it does spray the cleaning solution. I want to clean some
carcarpets. Anyone used one of those things you rent from the hardware store?
Do they do any better? Or what methods would you use?
I see those pics of cars for sale where they do the alternating cleaning passes
and get the stripes in the carpet, whatever they use seems to work well.
