My father in law was a hard core morel mushroom hunter, and had his “special places” where they grew that he guarded carefully. Allen lives in such areas and probably has people around him hunting them as well. Father in law did a lot of his hunting in the Ninevah and Camp Atterbury (IN) areas, where he grew up.
He would go out on a Saturday and come back a few hours later with a big basket of them.
