AFAIK the biggest problem with these is regulation. You'll need to get the 
power on the tractor set so that you're making 60hz and then the governor on 
the tractor has to maintain that. You're going to use a lot of extra fuel at 
light loads and put a lot of time on your tractor.
If you had a battery bank and could use this to top it up that'd be one thing 
but for the cost...
What is the load on your heat pump? I honestly have no idea how much power they 
pull.
Actually thinking about it you'd probably be best to buy a couple Big Buddy 
heaters, a 1# propane can refiller and keep a couple extra 20# BBQ tanks...
