I wouldn't think it likely that you will set the engine oil on fire in
the length of time it would take to weld something onto the plug. Why
not use a Nut rather than a socket. Just hold it up there with vice
grips and weld in the middle of the nut.

cars. My plan of attack is to weld a cheap 13 mm socket onto it and hope for
the best. Is this a bad idea to do on a drain pan filled with oil? I’ll be mig
welding.
