after 25 years or so, the ACC units become rather temperamental (i'm talking about the horizontal pushbutton units by VDO, not the vertical button Chrysler units). If you remove it from the dash and resolder every joint, they usually work great. I've rebuilt 3 like this with great success.

Recently I've been having issues with the ACC on my 81 300SD. With the ignition switched on (Accessory setting) the fan will work perfectly normal from highest to lowest speed. With the car on the fan stops working. Pushing the defrost button or any number of buttons and changing fuses results makes no difference. I am at my wits end. What else should I be looking at? Should I be poking around the fan instead of the ACC brains? BTW the monovalve is working as I notice it will cycle between heat and non heated air but with no force coming out of the vents. Also I can hear the vacuum pods working as I push the ACC buttons Thanks, Fred Johnson Chicago 1977 240D 1983 300SD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam?
