Oh well that won't work then. We got rid of all the bolt wheels with the bug.
Good luck.

4 bolts, 15" wheel.

The car has 165R15 tires on it currently, and I think they are from at
least 2005 so I'll probably need to replace them before I do any serious
driving. I can't find a DOT date code though. The brand is
Mastercraft. They have a lot of tread left.

I only see one option for replacement at tirerack, so it appears this is
not a common size these days.

Thanks,

Is that the big 5 bolt pattern or the small 4 bolt? I have an old 5 bolt from my long gone pickup.

You may recall I picked up a Karmann Ghia last November. Not wanting to
subject it to any salt or winter it has been in the garage since then. I
got it out today and it started up and ran nicely. It ran pretty rough
in the driveway the few times I tried to run it during last winter so I
figured I'd need to clean out the carbs and give it a general tune up.

However it is running much better now. I added about 5g of fresh gas and
half a bottle of Techron but not sure that really made a difference.

It has a dual carb setup with Webers and I took a closer look and they
don't seem to have any choke mechanism at all. So that would explain the
rough running in the cold. I guess the car was set up as a summer
driver. Not sure if such a thing is commonplace?

I found in the documentation that with the rebuilt the prior
owner installed has a 9:1 compression ratio. So I guess I should
probably buy at least mid-grade gas for it? Or premium?

I also discovered some rust on the passenger side rear floorpan. Not
catastrophic but probably need to replace about a square foot of it. A
project for next winter. The rest of the car seems solid.

Need to track down an extra wheel for a spare tire, as that is
missing. Anyone know of a good Aircooled email list?

Allan
