Pex *may* work, but what you want is Pex-Al-Pex which is pex lined with 
aluminum somehow.

This kit looks like the best compromise between price and flow. It has a 1/2" 
ID, so it should flow well.

The Rapidair 1/2 system is cheaper (same company), but has an OD of 1/2" and an 
ID of like 3/8". It would probably be fine for airing up tires and light air 
tools, but to get the most umph out of an impact bigger is better.
