Just like the dam*ed insurance companies wanting to track your driving
habits.

For me it's a matter of mutual respect and trust.
Would you enjoy working with your boss hovering behind your shoulder,
watching everything you do, all day, every day? I would not, and am not
happy to tolerate the same thing happening virtually.
If they want to give me a locked-down machine, that can only access the
internal network, VPN, a whitelist of approved external sites, etc. then
fine, and it may be appropriate for a variety of reasons. But if they
are going to be tracking and critiquing how many keystrokes per minute I
am averaging, randomly turning on my camera or taking screen shots to
see what I am doing, etc. then that's crossing the line.

I would add that there are a lot of companies out there who employ these tools
but don’t tell their employees. More than you might imagine.
So dumping an employer because they use such things doesn’t make a lot of
sense. Simply conduct yourself appropriately when working and you’ve got
nothing to worry about. You’re using their resources to do a job you’re hired
to do, not to surf the Web or watch “Karen” videos on Facebook.

Our company who is currently owned by a holding company was sold to another
company recently. This new company is actually owned by the same holding
company that owned us anyway so it seemed more like moving it from one hand to
the other. Anyway today they announced they will be installing software that
captures screen shots, key strokes, and GPS to track where employees are. Wtf?
