But it is EASY to read if you have your original warranty booklet.  The
engine number is stamped on mine there (last page, old ibm card)

The engine number is on the driver's side rear of the engine block, just
below the block head junction, behind the oil filter housing and under
the intake manifold - IMPOSSIBLE for a human to see without
disassembling the car.
