Probably a “Designo” interior.

Interior plastics on these cars started degrading before they were off the lot. 
It’s a rare occasion to find one with interior plastics that aren’t trashed. 
Rather than molding them in the appropriate color, they were molded in black 
and then painted with the interior color. As the plastics gassed off, the 
topcoat broke down, causing the paint to come off and/or wear off when 
something came into contact with it.

My upholstery guy said he replaced a bunch of R170 interiors over the years as 
a result of this. Best thing you can do is to use it as a bargaining point, 
then plan on spending a couple days disassembling everything and prepping and 
painting it with interior paint of the proper color.
