I think it has Euro bumpers? That would explain the battery up front.
The battery was moved to the trunk to make room for the ACC servo
(that we all love).
Wife will not be happy, but I'll have to at least look at this one --

1980?  With the battery under the hood?  Certainly in the SL's it
had long moved to the trunk, and I thought the main reason was heat.
