We’ll get there. This flight was cancelled yesterday for the first time this year. There are only a few flights in/out of Flagstaff daily - 4 on American and two on United. United is dropping their service the end of October.
There’s no question it’s a staffing issue, but in fairness, weather has exacerbated things the last day or two. I tracked the original inbound equipment earlier today. It was going from Midlands, TX, to DFW, then to Jackson, MS and back to DFW. The Midlands flight (this morning) was already an hour late, delays at DFW and Jackson would have pushed it out so far it would never have made it back here before midnight. To American’s credit, they saw this and found new equipment. The rub is that they had no crew. I figured this would happen. Inbound equipment is coming from Corpus Christie and is on the ground, so as long as a crew shows up we’re good to go and will only be in two hours late. With all the other havoc in the system today I’m counting myself lucky. And this is after having to reschedule from Sunday because the Flagstaff flight was cancelled. At least they anticipated that well in advance and we knew long before we would have left for the airport. It’s still a cluster. We usually take an early morning flight from Tampa to Phoenix, but that’s been taken out of the schedule until October. If we could have done that we would have been home hours ago. -D On Aug 22, 2022, at 9:37 PM, Dwight Giles <dwight.gi...@gmail.com> wrote: hope you get to your destination. what a goat rope. Only one of four flights to DFW that went out today, the other three cancelled. Lots of very, very unhappy travelers in the airport. Boards on time, everyone gets on, we’re ready to go. Ground hold for 10 minutes due to weather in DFW. No biggie. Ground hold clears. No action. Nav system is unhappy, calling maintenance. Maintenance comes after 20 minutes or so. Clears fault. Maintenance has to update logs. Another 20 minutes. No pushback crew or tug. Another 10 minutes. No counter person to move the jet bridge. Another 10 minutes. Get out to the threshold. 5 minute traffic hold. Got out an hour and 20 minutes late. No biggie, got a two hour layover. Get to DFW with and hour before flight to Flagstaff. Inbound equipment is about 20 minutes late, no biggie. Inbound equipment arrives, passengers deplane. No fresh crew available until 10:00 pm (flight was scheduled to depart at 7:45 pm). Rescheduled to 10:26 with new crew and equipment. Will try to get crew before that, unlikely to happen. Gates have been changed from the original gate six times since 8:00. Moved all over the place, now back at the original departure gate after all the changes. 30 minutes to board. Looks like the inbound equipment has just arrived. This is a major league cluster. Larry, Moe and Curley must be running the place. -D _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
