I have a new brass mixing valve in which the two inlet ½" FIPS threaded openings are too large - a male fitting screws easily all the way in. I've used 15 wraps of teflon tape on a male fitting and it seemed to be enough, though now with up to 60 psi of water pressure on them, they leak about an ounce of water every 8 hours. Is there anything like a good pipe dope (is there one?) that will seal this, or do I have to return it and hope for a better one?
PS - this is the second of these that I've purchased, the first one is fine - four wraps of teflon tape and it is plenty tight and has been holding the pressure for a month now. The valve is for a hand-held bidet sprayer (pressure washer for your butt). -- OK Don "Quality of life is inversely proportional to the amount of clothing you are wearing."
