Mercedes cars came from the factory thru 1987 with ATF in the PS system.
It remains perfectly acceptable to continue to use it with only one
problem. The current Dexron II/III/Mercon fluids are a bit stiff in VERY
cold weather. Using Mobil 1 ATF deals with that.
You CAN also use the Mercedes specific fluid for these older cars, but
it is NOT necessary or even particularly desirable (it doesn't lubricate
quite as well as ATF).
