Actually I am looking to repower my 68 Dodge M37 military truck with a MB diesel and would prefer a manual tranny.

Hi Craig,
All your suggestions sound great - but instead of modifying the flywheel
and drveshaft wouldn't it be preferable to transfer *all* the
components from the donor 300D?

I had thought Mike wanted to end up with a stick-shift 300D. If not, then
sure, just transfer everything from the 300D to the 240D.

BTW, would later 300Ds work in a W123 240D? Just in case I happen to
find a rust bucket 87/88/89? 300D - or where they getting too complex?

Since they are different models (probably W124 instead of W123), I suspect
that the swap would be quite difficult.
