I don’t recall if airmatic on the sedans has a “high” setting, I’ll have to go look at the $400E500. It has 3 stiffness settings. MLs and GLs with airmatic (W/X164s) have a high setting for off road which gives another inch or two of clearance. As Dan says the hydraulic ABC system has different settings, 4 actually — normal, higher, highest and Sport which drops it a bit from the normal setting (maybe at higher speeds, I don’t recall) and stiffens it up. The different levels are noticeable and Sport is stiffer.
I’m not sure I would take a sedan off-roading but it might actually work if the suspension jacks it up enough.
