Keep in mind that some early W123s didn’t have tachs - at least my 1979 300TD 
didn’t - it had a clock. I don’t recall what the cutoff or models affected 
were, but I do recall my 300TD having a clock because I remember replacing the 
caps in it to restore it to working condition. One of the first DIY repairs I 
ever did on an MB.
