The W211 wagons are pretty much the pinnacle for MB wagons in my mind,
especially if you can find a nice E500 version. They *are* more complex and
require an SDS system to maintain them if you’re going to do anything of
significance. That’s not to scare you, just to help you understand that
diagnostics are difficult, at best, without one.

Nice cars, though. If I was looking for another wagon I would definitely focus
on a W211 wagon. The tough part is that they didn’t make a lot of them so they
can be difficult to find. As a result they command higher prices than their
sedan counterparts.

Any particular areas of concern on these? I have wanted a wagon for a long
time. But, the 123 Wagons cost a fortune. The 124 diesel wagon is the same.
The 300TE Is hard to find. And anything recent scares me because of all the
tech and reliability. So, the 211 Wagons are good?

I drove a loaner 2005 E500 a friend had. He had spent several thousand dollars
on struts. I read about some issue with the radiator that blows up and trashes
the transmission. I loved driving it. I’m sure the joy had a lot to do with
the V8.
