1983 Ford used the International truck engine with 6.9 displacement,
mechanical injection. I have a 1985 F350 with that engine, it only has
435,000 miles on it and still goes to work every time I ask it to.. New
injectors and rebuilt IP about 45,000 miles ago.. along with new glow
plugs.. As far as I can find, the engine has never been apart since it left
the factory.. 4 speed manual, low gear rear end.. not as much grunt as the
later 7.3 power stroke engines.. but it works.
