What brand phones Larry?
As I say my Motorola has been like a rock, and my wife has had the 2 Nokias
that both gave excellent service.
My Dad had a Samsung that was a POS. His friend had one that I can't remember
the name of "HappyTel" or something like that which was even worse.

My wife reminds me that she had to pay extra for each of her Nokia's,
something like $60 apiece if she remembers correctly.

I'm glad others have had better luck than me - we have a famplan 700
anytime
min and free nights & weekends for $70 for 2 phones and 1 phone was
free and
the other was $30. We never go over the minutes - but the phones just
stop
working correctly - the screen will start fading or will go blank. I'm
pretty easy on mine and so is my wife - I spend a lot of time in bed
and my
wife leaves hers in her pocketbook - they both failed in the same way.
The
screens stopped displaying things -

As far as buying one on ebay - it's possible but you ms be careful as
the
different service providers will only use "thier" phones - and some are
unique to each provider. Not saying it's not possible - but care must
be
exercized.

Service is spotty around here (central Va) and one provider we used had
a
dead spot from Debbies work to the interstate - about 30 miles. As it
happens that's where she was hit by a deputy in a high speed chase and
went
to the hospital via helo - but she doesn't remember *any* of it due to
the
concussion. Anyway - if we had not changed to Verizon I would *not*
have
learned about the accident until she got to the hospital - although
someone
might have come along -

But we were always easy on the phones - they still looked pristine when
they
died internally -

But thanks to everyone who provided very helpful information -- I'll
save it
for future use -

Oh well - when these die we'll buy another.
