Hi Trampas,
I tried the kicking method - no luck - then I looked for the fuse. I found the main GP 80A fuse directly in front (bumper side) of the master fuse box - at least I believe it's the main fuse for the GPs. Then I looked inside the master fuse box - the label said the fan motor was outside the fusebox. But I haven't found it. Along side the fuse box is a plug type affair - I unplugged it and it looks like an aluminum male plug going into a alum female receptacle. Does that have anything to do with it?

I'm getting ready to search my workshop manuals & "The Bible" for info on R&R'ing the motor/cage along with any fuse location info - but they kinda assume the reader is able to find fuses! ;-\

I'd like to change it myself - for the satisfaction. And I'll know how to do it next time - I plan to keep this car a long time. It just turned 107k - it wasn't driven regularily before we bought it last Feb - so I think these kinds of problems are inevitable - but should be fixed easily.

Thanks again for sharing your "hands-on experience" !

;-)

Try kicking under the passenger dash. Usually the brushes on the blower
motor goes bad around 150k miles. Kicking under the passenger dash will make
it work for a bit longer, at least long enough to call Rusty.

Also check fuse under hood on driver's fender, it is not with other fuses
but in it's own black case. If it is good order a spare from Rusty and keep
in dash, they will eventually fail due to vibration.

Note the blower motor can be ordered with or with out squirrel cage. I order with out, which is cheaper, then use an air hammer to remove squirrel cage.
To do this hold squirrel cage and use air hammer on motor shaft, old otor
will fall to ground. I have done about 6 blower motors this way and have
never broken plastic squirrel cage.

Subject: [MBZ] ACC Fan Problem W124 '91 300D 2.5T

Howdy -
Have 2 problems - 1st, the blower fan in the ACC system stopped today;
naturally it's in the low 90s. I seem to recall it hesitating - for maybe 2

seconds, then it started blowing normally. I confirmed the compressor is
engaged.. Also checked the fuses and outside temp indicator - both were
normal.

Any suggestions? from reading the WSM it seems like I would need remove the

glove box to get to the fan. I plan to check connections if I can figure
out what I need to check - a loose wire would explain the short delay
before the fan came on. Unfortunately, today, the fan didn't come on at
all.

2nd problem - the ACC Wiring Diagrams section 83-606, should have my wiring
diagram. But after going thru the pages 3 times I believe they're missing
the 124.128 chassis - perhaps there's another similar chassis that works?
Or perhaps the WDs for the ACC are still on the internet somewhere?

TIA --
