Now that you mention the rolling resistance I seem to remember one of the car
magazines doing a test of all the popular tires. Michelin, BF Goodrich,
Goodyear, Conti's, Pirelli etc. I think it was on performance tires though and
the test vehicle was a BMW M3. I do believe they included rolling resistance in
the test as well as wet and dry performance.

Harry and all,

I tried the Contis as well, and they rolled true and handled well. I noted
that the rolling resistance was much higher than the previous set of
Yokohamas , probably costing me 1-2 MPG. I had both sets of tires mounted on
identical Bundt MB wheels so I did some coast down comparisons and even used
a

spring scale to move the car on my flat concrete driveway. There was a
significant difference, easily noticeable between the sets of tires.

There is currently renewed interest in publishing rolling resistance in tire
ratings, this is, of course, because of $3 fuel in the US. To my knowledge,
no US magazine has dared to add the rolling resistance test and publish the
results. Has anyone found this information in a Euro car mag? They have
been dealing with high fuel prices for a long time and should be in the fore
front of reporting this info.
