Braindead Island is not inexpensive. Silverdale is no worse than
Bremerton, just has a better PR person. All these places need a ferry
to get to the big town, unless you want to drive around. The silly
boats run on a schedule that does not support too much more than
commuting. If you want to make a night of it at the Opera, best to
book a room in town, so that you can enjoy the show, have something
nice to eat after, then play with your favored wench in the morning
before B'fast. Catch the boat home for lunch.
Ferry fees just went up again. Since I do not use them, I am not too
sure, but think it is close to $10 car and driver each way. The dumb
things crash into docks with great regularity, thus reducing your
chance of getting home in time.
What is wrong with living closer to the mainland? There are just as
many places about as far out that cost the same as living in the
hillbilly area of the sound.

Hey, I see there has been lots more input on this topic. Thanks guys.
For
the laughs and the learning.
That is, in fact, what I've heard from my wife's friends who grew up
there -
that it just sort of spits a lot.
And yes, it is pretty much nasty here (MN) 10 mo. of the year as one
of you
said. We are getting into potentially the hottest summer on record. I'd
rather have my 112 and dry that I grew up with.
As for the job in WA, it could have us looking at Bainbridge Island or
Silverdale. Bremmerton is a less nice area, no?
How inconvenient/expensive is it to catch the ferry across to Seattle
for a
night out, or a trip to Trader Joe's, etc.? I would probably ride my
bicycle
to catch the ferry and tool around the city.

So why have I seen SO many WA state cars on eBay with snow tires on

Ice. And travel outside of the Sound-effect area!
