It's kinda funny watching Hoovie vids, he's been burned a coupla times on BaT cars, like really bad.  But that is also what drives eyes to his vids so all-in-all he comes out ahead.

Yesterday was about his Maserati turd he has spent like $20k-$30k on and it's off to the knackers now

Pierre’s comments certainly have some truth to them, but to be honest, unless
you’re buying from a high-end auction house, and sometimes not even then,
there’s nothing that can beat a PPI or personal inspection. Consider that these
cars are often 20+ years and older, meaning that there will be a lot of little
niggling things that need to be addressed, unless they’re clearly spelled out
in the pictures or descriptions. That’s where honesty and transparency makes a
big difference in most sales, and especially on BaT, as the peanut gallery is
like a chum-filled pond full of alligators. If there are issues with that
type/model/brand of vehicle, you can be sure people will bring it up and demand
to see proof that it’s been dealt with. Beat them to the punch and there’s no
pot to be stirred.

I listed my 1965 220SEb on BaT with a great amount of detail and descriptions,
which is why I believe I got well beyond my wildest dreams (nearly $15k!) for
it.

Pierre is a wonderful man and has probably forgotten more than most other MB
mechanics of his era. That said, he often bemoans the loss of *any* aging
Mercedes, regardless of the condition. I get it, but at this point age, wear
and tear and corrosion are eventually going to win with few exceptions. Factor
in parts availability and the picture gets even darker. And how many owners
have an unlimited source of funds to pour into a car like that?

I love PIerre to death and have always enjoyed the time I’ve spent with him,
he’s a great guy. He’s got a lot of grand dreams, and they’re good ones, at
least the ones I’ve heard, but without some sort of guarantor/foundation or
something stepping up, he’s got a tough row to hoe, as we say in the Midwest.

Well it has been discussed many times. Couldn’t tell you specifics
beyond people seem to pay way beyond reasonable prices for cars there.
It seems like a crack fueled bidding frenzy.
I recall a comment referring to Pierre Hedary saying vehicles there
looked nice but have a lot of deferred maintenance.

The 300SD I bought there certainly fits that description and deceptive
advertising with 121 pictures, but none of the rear axle and the
half-shafts with split boots.
