I thought of purchasing a E250 Bluetec sedan that had been de-DEFed by its PA owner. Seller claimed 45-50 mpg as a result, but it wouldn't pass MD inspection so I purchased a legal E250 in VA. I get 45 mpg on the beltway in any case, so not much difference under the DEF system.
