boot. Unlike most "rice rockets" where the boots seem to average
100kmi,
the boots on my cars have been fine for the life of the cars and
compiling the data I've collected, many more cars go to the recycler
with the original boots/axles than with replacement boots/axles.
It's the difference between front wheel drive and not, where the
boots also have to accommodate steering. I'm not surprised they
don't last that long. There aren't so many cars that have CV joints
that _don't_ steer. Where they are, I'd expect them to tend to
last as long as MB's joints.
On another, completely off-, topic, I'm using our new wireless
antenna arrangement, and it's working _much_ better. A 1W amplifier
on a 24dB wire basket antenna and we're getting in excess of 1 Mb/s
right now, with few errors. Night and day. Before, I had to dial
in during daylight hours, it was so bad that it was actually faster
to put up with 20 kb/s versus the up to 90% packet loss over wireless.
Cost was one dinner, and a few beers.
