Something I noticed yesterday...when the engine is at temperature (remember
the whole heat-soaked inferno garage thing) and I switch the key to the glow
position, the fan starts instantly and the glow light comes on for a second or
two then, instead of going out quickly it kind of fades out like its on a
dimmer or something. Then the car starts normally. It only does this when the
aux fan is running.
Is this okay?

That sounds odd, I can't ever remember seeing this myself. Though
it may be entirely harmless. The Aux fan may be generating a lot
of electrical noise that confuses the lamp circuit.
