Try loaning your 300SD to some of these friends and see what kind of MPG it gets. I'm assuming the guy with the Honda had an Accord that he abused the heck out of? It doesn't entirely invalidate your point however, I'd rather drive a CRX HF than an Insight, even though I'd be hard pressed to beat 60mpg in the CRX and could probably hit 70 in the Insight.
