Me too, and just when I'm looking for a 3rd car...
Wish it was on this coast.

offer $500

Now that one's in my price range. For $500, I'd be awefully tempted.

Talked to Rusty this morning (yay Rusty!) and my injector lines are on the way
but it'll be a couple days.
Anyway I really should have a 3rd car for these just in case times. I'm
thinking something larger than the 190D for those rare occasions where friends
are along. Oh and its got to be cheap.
I've found a couple:
http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/car/211981830.html - '84 300SD, needs
glowplugs, is this a big deal on this car? I know it'd be not much fun on my
190D and wasn't all that hard on my 240D or '81 300TD...

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/car/211888940.html - '81 240D, heh a longshot,
I may call and lowball it to $400 or so, he's posted it a million times.

http://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/car/211876224.html - '81 300SD, is this an
'81? I thought the 126 started in '82... Such a short description, I shudder...

http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/car/211125851.html - '84 230s, gasser but its
cheap and manual shift. Any opinions?

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/car/212203798.html - Diesel Rabbit, do I want
a basket case even if I can get it cheap?

http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/car/210837112.html - $1500 seems high for an
'81 Rabbit with over 250k

IIRC, no. Same motor as your 300TD.

For rare use, mileage is less relevant. Go for something bigger and
comfy, for utility ass-hauling if nothing else. Diesels are nice 'cause
they sit on the sidelines well. Hard to beat the 123/126 models for
this,
unless you like older stuff.
