'82 300D done today. That was fun and easy, even on dirt! Problem #1 was getting the oil pressure sensor line loose. Even with an oil wrench, I couldn't get the fitting to break loose and ended up taking the piece off the back of the oil filter canister. Problem #2 was getting the transmission cord loose. Ended up breaking one of the plastic tabs off of the connector before I got it out. Hrm..not too bad for my first pull. So, with the engine out, we could easily look at the hole in the block (mostly the top of the oil pan) that is on both sides. It's about 4"x3" at the #1 rod on both sides. I'm trying to upload the photos for your viewing pleasure, but I'm having issues....More on that tomorrow.
