One question I have, now that the vacuum pump is open. Should the two check valves be seated the same way? Currently they are not:
To the diaphragm chamber one valve needs to face one way and the other the other. That's what ensures the air moves in one direction as it's pumped, if it were wrong you would get no vacuum at all. -- Jim
